Captain Carole Litten's Biography

Carole Leigh Litten is founder and President of KP Enterprises, a leadership and coaching firm based in Denver, CO. A former US Navy and US Airways pilot, she relates her real world experience and leadership in a powerful and motivational presentation for corporate and entrepreneurial audiences worldwide.

Carole is a highly experienced US Navy veteran with over 2,500 flight hours in the T-34C, P-3 and C-9 navy aircraft. She served a tour at Naval Air Station Whiting Field as an instructor pilot for young officers in the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard. Later, while flying P-3s at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland, she flew missions in over 20 countries.



Transition to Naval Reserves


Following almost eleven years of active duty, Carole transitioned to the naval reserves, and subsequently served as Executive Officer for NR NAS Keflavik 1066, the Navy's largest ground based reserve unit of over 300 officer and enlisted personnel.

In 1996 the Pentagon ordered Carole to Kuwait to serve as an advisor during Operation Ultimate Resolve. She also worked with the Assistant Secretary of the Navy to develop and establish the Navy's comprehensive sexual harassment policy guidelines. Carole retired as a Navy Captain in June of 2000.

Commercial Career


Carole continued her love of flying by joining Piedmont Airlines (later US Airways) in August 1986. During her commercial airline career, Carole accumulated an additional 10,000 hours in the Boeing 727, 737-200/300/400, 757, 767 and the Boeing 747-400. In 1998, Carole became the first female 757/767 simulator instructor in US Airways. After checking out as Captain, she continued her love for teaching and became a Check Airmen with the Airbus 320 program at US Airways.

In 2005, after US Airways experienced two bankruptcies, Carole retired early and moved to Paris, France. While living in a delightful apartment in the 15th arrondissement, just a few blocks from the Eiffel Tower, she continued her love of flying working with Atlas Air as a pilot on their Boeing 747-400s. Carole's first scheduled trip with Atlas Air went westbound around the world. Overnight crew rest stops included Honolulu, Melbourne, Shanghai and Dubai. For the next 18 months, Carole became very familiar many world airports and cities.

Post-Aviation Career


Seeking a new challenge in life, Carole returned to the United States, where she began a two year Masters Program in Social Work (MSW) at the University of Denver, obtaining her degree with a specialty certificate of Interpersonal Trauma. Upon graduation, she began her third career, coaching others in dealing with life's obstacles that prevented them from achieving their full potential. She also worked with a Colorado Juvenile Diversion program which sought to empower high risk youth to redirect their lives, leading them to them to recognize the potential they had within themselves.

As President of KP Enterprises, Carole serves as a leadership and coaching consultant for individuals seeking to maximize their potential and productivity in the accomplishment of their goals. Passionate about the human potential and extremely motivating, through her own success story, she has encouraged many to reach out for their dreams.



Carole's Memoir


Her own journey through some of the toughest obstacles are told in her book, On Wings of Trust. These adventures provide a fresh and unique perspective to her motivational presentations. Carole emotionally engages her audiences and inspires them to overcome challenges and to maximize their potential both in business and in life.

Carole’s educational background includes a B.S. in Finance from Boston College and an M.S in Social Work from the University of Denver. While stationed at the Pentagon, she completed a three year extension course from the Naval War College graduating with Distinction. She has been President of the International Society of Women Airline Pilots.
